Description"Beefeater", Tower of London. - geograph.org.uk - 123550.jpg |
English: "Beefeater", Tower of London. The Yeoman Warders are commonly known as "Beefeaters" and were first formed by Henry VII. The term comes from the French 'boufitier', guardian of the royal buffet. They have a ceremonial role today, plus are part of the scene for guarding the Crown Jewels, Queen's Keys and guiding tourists at the Tower. |
