Maximum edit rate (eg edits per minute): As fast as import can go (probably a couple of images per second, not sure)

Programming language(s): I compile batches using a custom python script. The batches will be imported to Commons directly.

- Is it possible to not use generic categories such as Category:Historic sites, Category:Coasts of Europe? As far as I understand geograph.org.uk is about United Kingdom. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:57, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- No, Geograph is not about the United Kingdom. It's about all the British Isles, so also Ireland and the Isle of Man. You might want to take a look at Commons:Batch uploading/Geograph (especially the part about categorization). Multichill (talk) 16:24, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm definitely not expert in divisions of United Kingdom.
- Anyway my point way to try to use specific location categories instead of generic ones. I doubt that it'll be so easy to review 2.5 millions images by humans. May be coordinates could be taken in account?

- I think the filenames generated by the bot should be changed prior to approval (see Commons:Batch uploading/Geograph for details: remove domain name, add date). -- User:Docu at 13:21, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

- @EugeneZelenko I agree with you that images should not be there. There has been done a lot of work to prepare categories for this batch upload (Commons:Batch uploading/Geograph/cat-matrix). So most of the images should end up in good categories instead of the categories you mention.
- Flag or no flag that is a question if we would like to see the images in latest files or not. This is way to many to show in latest files so I really think it should have a flag. --MGA73 (talk) 23:25, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

- Ok. We discussed a lot at Commons:Batch uploading/Geograph. We had to wait because of the storage, I recompiled the batches to fix an error and now we're ready to import the first (of 25) batches. Might be nice to flag the bot to hide it from Special:NewFiles. Multichill (talk) 19:35, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
