DIY W210 E-Class Headlight How to Upgrade, Remove1996-2002

How to remove, upgrade and install a new headlight assembly on your Mercedes-Benz E-Class. You can either replace the headlights with OEM Halogen units or upgrade with projector HID lights.

Follow these instructions to remove the headlight from a 1996-2002 Mercedes-Benz E-Class W210. On the facelift E-Class, you must loosen the front bumper to remove the headlights. You can follow the instructions in this article to learn how to remove the front bumper W210 facelift.

Tools Required

• 10mm and 8mm sockets
• Standard Screwdriver Set

Instructions

1. Open the hood.
   
2. Remove the 8mm bolt on top of the headlight assembly.
3. Remove the 8 mm nut on the side of the headlight assembly. The front bumper covers this. Remove the 10 mm bolt that holds the front bumper cover to the headlight.
4. Remove the bolt to the lower outer side of the highlight.
5. Disconnect the headlight wiring harness. Disconnect the turn signal bulb. 
6. Pull out the headlight assembly. If you have difficulty pulling out the headlight, you can remove the 10mm bolts from the fender, which will loosen the fender and give you room to remove the headlight assembly. Headlight removed. 
7. Install new headlights in reverse order. 
8. Rember to adjust the low beam after you install the new headlights.
