What type of fuse do I need to replace blown fuse on my Mercedes-Benz?

fuse amere ratingWhen replacing blown fuses, use the same ampere rating fuse. The fuse rating is written on the fuse. You can verify that you are using the correct fuse by ensuring the fuse colors for the blown fuse and the new fuse match. This indicates the same ampere rating.

Your Mercedes-Benz uses Automotive Blade Fuse Type. A box of 100 fuses that include all the different ampere ratings you need costs less than $20 on Amazon.

What is the importance of knowing the fuse box locations of your Mercedes-Benz?

  1. Electrical troubleshooting: When a vehicle has an electrical problem, such as a malfunctioning radio or a non-functioning turn signal, the fuse box is the first place to check. By knowing the location of the fuse box, the driver or technician can quickly check the fuses related to the malfunctioning electrical component.
  2. Preventing damage: Fuses protect the electrical components of a vehicle from damage caused by power surges or overloads. By knowing the location of the fuse box, the driver can quickly replace a blown fuse and prevent further damage to the vehicle’s electrical system.
  3. Safety: In some cases, a blown fuse can cause a safety hazard. For example, if the fuse for the brake lights is blown, other drivers may not be able to see when the vehicle is stopping. Knowing the location of the fuse box and the function of each fuse can help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of the vehicle’s occupants and other drivers on the road.
  4. Maintenance: To maintain a vehicle’s electrical system, checking the fuses and replacing any blown ones regularly is important. Knowing the location of the fuse box and how to access it can make this process quicker and easier.

Overall, knowing the location and function of the fuse box is important for maintaining a vehicle’s electrical system and ensuring the safety of its occupants and others on the road.

  1. I have a 2003 ML350 and the alarm just started going off for no reason yesterday, whenever the key was not inserted and turned to at least the 2 position. I changed the remote batteries after pulling fuse F48 and relay K31. I then replaced the fuses, but the remote no longer works.

  2. hey there i have a 2003 ml350 W163, i have my BAS ABS and ETS lights on so i thought id check the relays and fuses but i don’t have a K25 Relay and there’s nothing listed there i do have the abs unit all i have is a F27 40 Amp fuse.

  3. Hello. Thank you for such an informative article. I have a ml350 w 163. The issue is that when you turn on the parking lamp, the bulb does not light up. So when you are driving at night, there is no light until you puch on the brake. I have checked all the fuses under the hood (F25/F1/F15/F24/F12) as well as the physical bulbs that are in the parking lamp socket, which are all working. I am convinced there was some sort of short specifically in that socket where the pocket lamp is. Would you have any suggestions please?

    • Yes it is very likely that you have a short. I would check for shorts and continuity at the rear tail lights. Also make sure there is no accidental contact between the tail light circuit and any metal parts. Get a multimeter and start testing back there. Compare both sides because it is most likely it is just one of the tail lights that is causing the problem.
