How do you reset the oil service light Mercedes-Benz SLK

To reset the FSS System on an SLK R170 after an oil change, follows these steps:

1. Turn the ignition to the ON position. That is position II, right before starting the engine.
2. Within one second, press the knob/button twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed. Within 10 seconds, turn the key to OFF/LOCK. Picture below.
4. Press and hold the knob/button, turning the distance displayed again.
5. Move the ignition to the run position again.
6. Continue to hold the knob/button.
7. After 10 seconds, a signal sounds, and the display shows 7,000 mi or 11000km for 10 seconds.
8. Release the knob/button.
9. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
